History
Tom Hernon and Doug Bellows started HB Plumbing and Heating in October of 1991. Operating out of Tom’s house in Bellows Falls, VT, they quickly earned a reputation for offering great service at a fair and reasonable price. In 1996 Tom and Doug purchased Springfield Plumbing & Heating, and moved their office to 132 Bridge Street, Springfield VT. As their business grew, so did the entire crew. They employ master plumbers, journeyman, and apprentice plumbers. HB Energy also employs Gold, Silver and Bronze certified burner technicians, oil and septic drivers, truck mechanics and lawn care specialists. With the infrastructure of a knowledgeable and dependable service department in place, HB began selling home heating oil to their customers. Since 1999, HB has enjoyed consistent growth and has been an area leader in offering products that are more environmentally friendly, such as low sulfur oil and Bio–Heat. In 2002, HB Septic Services was formed. HB services septic pumps and septic tanks, and cleans grease traps, in addition to providing portable restrooms for construction sites, community events and private receptions. In 2011, HB acquired Hemenway Electric in Springfield, VT and Chamberland Electric in Bellows Falls, VT to provide licensed electricians that many of our customers already know. An alternative energy showroom was also opened. The showroom displays the ways our customers can help the environment by using some of the many alternative energy items available. Thus the saying "one call does it all" truly applies: customers calling HB can have their home heating oil delivered, their heating unit serviced, their plumbing repaired, their septic tank pumped, rent a portable restroom, heat their hot water with the sun, install an emergency generator, update their cooling system, and have their lawn mowed! Propane Gas Delivery in Southern Vermont and New Hampshire
HB has now added delivery of propane gas as well as sales and service of propane equipment to our list of services. Many of our present customers have asked when this service would be available, and the answer is now!
Diesel and Bio Diesel in Southern Vermont and New Hampshire
Our commitment to the environment carries through to our fleet of service vans, delivery trucks and septic service trucks. The majority of our vehicles run on Bio Diesel. The switch from gasoline powered service vans to Bio Diesel powered vans has raised our van fleet average from 9 MPG to over 20 MPG. The use of Bio Diesel has allowed us to reduce the amount of foreign oil we consume, while promoting and supporting the American farmer.
Electrical Services in Southern Vermont and New Hampshire
In order to provide a one call service company, we have added electrical contracting to the HB Energy Solutions family. Chamberland Electric joined HB Energy in April of 2011 to team up with HB Hemenway Electric so that we are now able to offer residential and commercial electrical service to our customers promptly and with the local experts you have known for years. In our quest to bring alternative energy options to our customers, we have added electrical services to our complete solar photovoltaic and wind power electrical generation packages. This includes the installation and maintenance of the electrical components of these systems.
